Laney Women’s Basketball Garners Awards, Competes in Elite 8 CCAAA Playoffs

With integrity-filled spirit, effort, and toughness reminiscent of the “My Team’s on the Floor!” moment in the classic movie Hoosiers, the Laney College, the six-member Laney College Women’s Basketball team played its collective heart out before falling to Moorpark College by a mere 3 points in the quarterfinal portion of the women’s state basketball championship for California community colleges. Prior to the contest, the team was honored, with Laney’s own Jada Hunter co-awarded Player of the Year. Photos below include not only the team photo of this resilient group of student-athletes but also highlights of the awards the team garnered for making it to tournament weekend at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California.
