Peralta Community College District recently received two awards from CCPRO, the Community College Public Relations Organization (
http://ccprocalifornia.org/). The CCPRO 2021 Annual Meeting took place virtually on Friday afternoons during April and concluded on April 30 with their annual awards ceremony where it was announced that Peralta CCD received two awards for work produced in 2020.
Last year the Finance & Administration Department collaborated with the Marketing, Communication and Public Relations Department to give the Budget Book a thorough makeover including new graphic design, new layout and additional narrative text to help make our budget easier navigate and understand. The Peralta Board of Trustees praised the efforts of the District budget book team when they adopted the FY 2020-21 budget during their October 27, 2020 meeting. Updating the Budget Book was truly a team effort that included:
- Adil Ahmed
- Richard Ferreira
- Tami Taylor
- Fareha Bakre
- Marcus Creel
- Mark Johnson
PCCD received the Bronze Award in the "Online Newsletter" category for
Peralta Gems. Gems was originally launched as an email newsletter with the
first issue on January 7, 2020. After switching from GovDelivery to HubSpot as the District's email marketing tool, we relaunched Gems as a blog at
https://gems.peralta.edu/ with digest email updates. Kudos to Aaron Harbour, the District web content developer, for helping get the blog site launched in June 2020 using the HubSpot Content Management System (CMS). And many thanks to everyone who continues to email me with news to share on Gems. Making Gems a success is also very much a Peralta-wide team effort!
The awards program, open to CCPRO members from California Community Colleges, showcases the work of communications professionals across the state’s 116-college system.
This year, CCPRO received 328 entries from 35 colleges and districts. Judges awarded 111 winners in 40 different categories that included work in publications/design, digital communications, public relations, marketing, and social media.
CCPRO President Kristen Huyck said the work submitted this year was especially impressive given all institutions were closed during most of 2020 and communications professionals were working remotely. A 13 minute video of the 2021 CCPRO Awards is available here.
