Spooky Smiles: Halloween Fun at Laney and Merritt Childcare Centers

Written by Jasmine Bledsoe | Nov 5, 2025 11:25:17 PM

Laney College and Merritt College campuses were both filled with smiles, laughter, and harmless Halloween mischief as children from the Childcare Centers participated in Halloween festivities. Dressed in adorable costumes - from superheroes and princesses to tiny pumpkins and firefighters - the children brightened everyone’s day as they made their rounds collecting candy and snacks.

At Laney College, staff, students, parents, and the children enjoyed a day in the sun on the Eagles football field where they were immersed in a spooky spectacle filled with music, activities, and of course – candy. Children danced until their heart was content and interacted with larger-than-life inflatables that created a whimsical atmosphere.

At Merritt College, the little ones paraded through the R, P, Q, and L buildings for a delightful trick-or-treat adventure. Merritt College President David M. Johnson, Vice President of Instruction Lisa Cook, Associated Students of Merritt College (ASMC), staff, and faculty partnered to make the event extra special, setting up candy stations and cheering on the young trick-or-treaters. The hallways were full of excitement as the kiddos waved their candy bags proudly and showed off their creative costumes.

Events like this highlight Peralta’s commitment to supporting student parents and fostering a family-friendly campus environment.
