Faculty members representing all four of the Peralta Colleges participated in the Academic Senate of California Community Colleges (ASCCC) Spring Plenary in Anaheim April 20-22, 2023. The theme for the conference was “Making Space for Connection and Belonging as We Center Authentic Voices and Lived Experiences in the 10+1”.

Monica Ambalal commented  (via LinkedIn), "The Peralta team stood in excellence at the ASCCC plenary in Anaheim. My favorite part of this organization is that we get to observe our Title V laws in action. In these spaces, it feels like you are part of the changes being made at the state level."

Donald Moore referenced the Plenary during his District Academic Senate report to the Board of Trustees during their April 25th Meeting. "I walked away feeling a little bit better. We're all in the same spot about needed FTES." He noted that colleges across the state are struggling with enrollment and bringing students back to campus following three rough years of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As noted on their website at https://www.asccc.org/, the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges (ASCCC) is committed to equity, student learning and student success. The Academic Senate for California Community Colleges acts to empower faculty to engage in local and statewide dialog and take action for continued improvement of teaching, learning, and faculty participation in governance.
