Nick Arata remembers watching car repair programs on TV with his grandfather when he was growing up. He always wanted to know how things work and how to fix them when they broke. He started taking Auto classes at COA right out of high school. "Beginning that first day, I knew what I wanted to do was to work on cars." Nick worked at a small independent shop while taking COA Atech classes.   This semester, Nick will complete COA's program. And just this week, he landed a job with Berkeley Toyota.

The Ozzie Day Scholarship is a $750 scholarship, which is awarded by the Atech Department to the student with the highest grade point average and the most units in the Atech Program. The scholarship was set up in memory of Ozzie Day, the founder of Automotive Engineering and a long-time member of the COA Automotive Advisory committee.

For further information, contact the COA Atech Department at (510-748 2267), or visit https://alameda.edu/home/business-entrepreneurship-transportation/autotomotive-technology/.
