Dr. Tina Vasconcellos Named Associate Vice Chancellor of Educational Services at the District

Dear Peralta Community,
 
During their meeting on January 24, 2022, the Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees affirmed Dr. Tina Vasconcellos as the new Associate Vice Chancellor of Educational Services at Peralta’s district office. Dr. Vasconcellos brings more than 25 years of community college experience, and over 20 years have been at the Peralta Colleges where she has held faculty and administrative positions. Her most recent position was at College of Alameda, where she served as the Vice President of Student Services for the past 7 years.
 
Interim Deputy Chancellor/Chief Operating Officer Dr. Stephanie Droker stated, “We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Vasconcellos join us at the district office. Her vast experience in both student services and academic affairs, as well as her knowledge of all of our colleges, is very valuable to supporting our students, faculty, and staff across the district.”
 
Dr. Vasconcellos earned a Ph.D. focused on community college leadership from a national perspective from Colorado State University and a Master’s degree in counseling psychology with an emphasis in multicultural and holistic counseling from John F. Kennedy University. She has a rich history of intentional and social justice-focused community service. She received a congressional commendation from Congresswoman Barbara Lee for organizing a partnership with the Eat.Learn.Play Foundation and World Central Kitchen to address food insecurities for students and the community during the pandemic. She is committed to working with justice-impacted communities and has served as an education leader for eight years for the Alameda County Re-entry Strategic Plan development and implementation. For the past seven years, she served on the Board of the Diversity in Health Training Institute (DHTI) empowering immigrants and refugees in continuing their education and employment in the health profession. Dr. Vasconcellos serves on the Board of the West Alameda Business Association (WABA) connecting the college with local businesses and industries. She was also instrumental in the district-wide collaboration that resulted in the crafting of a new Peralta Community College District Mission Statement*, approved by the Board of Trustees in January 2022.
