College of Alameda (CoA) has welcomed an exciting new discussion group to campus: the Health through Humanities (HTH) student club. Launched in September 2025, HTH provides a unique, interdisciplinary forum for students interested in exploring the moral, philosophical, and economic underpinnings of medicine and healthcare. The inaugural meeting successfully brought together ten founding members for a deep dive into the foundational principles of modern medicine. The group’s first topics of discussion included the evolution of the Hippocratic Oath and the broader Philosophy of Healthcare, encouraging students to think critically about the complex issues facing the medical field today.

HTH is led by Co-presidents Brishna Dorani and Arielle Sedgwick, with the support of Club Faculty Advisor Dr. Matthew Goldstein. Future get-togethers promise to keep the discussions timely and diverse, with upcoming topics slated to address the critical intersection of Economics and Healthcare and other pressing subjects.

The club is open to all Peralta students, regardless of their major or home campus. Whether you are a pre-med student, studying philosophy, economics, or simply interested in ethical issues, HTH offers a valuable space for intellectual curiosity and collegial debate.
