Monday, May 20th was a beautiful day to be out on the golf course at Sequoyah Country Club in the Oakland Hills raising money for students by way of the Peralta Colleges Foundation. The “William ‘Bill’ Riley Swing for Student Success” Golf Tournament was a huge success with the most participants it's had in years. Many thanks to all 122 players who participated and to the PCF volunteers who made the event such a success.  Special thanks to former Trustee Dr. Riley for his continued leadership with Foundation fundraising, and also to Margie Platero, Development Events Manager for the Foundation for organizing the terrific event. The total amount raised by the tournament is estimated to be over $150,000!

Many Peralta employees were able to participate or at least mingle with the golfers generously supporting the Foundation, including Chancellor Dr. Tammeil Gilkerson, Merritt College President Dr. David M. Johnson, Laney College President Dr. Rudy Besikof, and Berkeley City College President Dr. Denise Richardson. Faculty members out on the links included Peralta Federation of Teachers President Jeff Sanceri and District Academic Senate President Dr. Matthew Goldstein. Thanks also to Board of Trustees Vice President Louis Quindlen, former Trustee Linda Handy, and former Trustee and now Oakland City Council Member Kevin Jenkins for showing your support.

Congratulations to the winners, who included Women's First Place team members Carylon Tyler, Dawn Wheeler, Lisa De La Sol, and Ina Miller, and Men's First Place team members Kio Johnson, Athani Krishna, Prasad Dasari, and Ash Hakim

LaNiece Jones, Interim Executive Director of the Foundation commented, "All in all it was a great day, perfect weather, awesome networking, and all making for great fundraising. Together, our efforts are building brighter futures not only for the students but also for our communities."

Thank you so much to all our sponsors, who you can see in this gallery of all signage on the golf course. More photos from the event are available here and here.
