Laney Women’s Basketball Garners Awards, Competes in Elite 8 CCAAA Playoffs

With integrity-filled spirit, effort, and toughness reminiscent of the “My Team’s on the Floor!” moment in the classic movie Hoosiers, the Laney College, the six-member Laney College Women’s Basketball team played its collective heart out before falling to Moorpark College by a mere 3 points in the quarterfinal portion of the women’s state basketball championship for California community colleges. Prior to the contest, the team was honored, with Laney’s own Jada Hunter co-awarded Player of the Year. Photos below include not only the team photo of this resilient group of student-athletes but also highlights of the awards the team garnered for making it to tournament weekend at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California.

In addition to commending Ms. Hunter and teammates Alayah Flucus, Adrianne Blackwell, Tali Fa’i, Gianna Ghio, and Lenyah Fulsome, Laney is so proud of Head Coach Ramaundo Vaughn, Assistant coaches Bryan Gardere, Matthew Johnson, Brandon Thomas, and Trainer Rick Becker for representing our campus so nobly throughout the Bay Valley Conference as co-champs and our great state!
