Laney College Women’s Basketball closed out its final home game on February 17 with a Sophomore Night celebration honoring nine student-athletes who will transfer to continue their academic and athletic careers. The event included a campus pre-game tailgate hosted by ASLC and the President’s Office, bringing together students, employees, and fans in support of the team.
The Eagles completed an exceptional regular season, finishing Bay Valley Conference play undefeated (13–0) and posting an overall 22–3 record, highlighted by an 18-game winning streak. The team capped the evening with a decisive 111–63 victory over Napa Valley College.
Sophomore Night underscored the mission of Laney Athletics—academic achievement, competitive excellence, and successful transfer outcomes—while celebrating one of the strongest seasons in recent program history.
Laney College hosted a campus-wide Lunar New Year celebration on February 19 in the Student Center, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and community members to honor the Year of the Horse.
The event featured a traditional lion dance performance, cultural activities, and festive cuisine, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere that highlighted cultural appreciation and community connection.
The celebration was sponsored by the AANHPI State Initiative and reflects Laney College’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, cultural celebration, and student engagement.
Laney College invites the campus community to support Eagle Baseball on Thursday, March 26, as the team takes on Napa Valley College at Tom Pearse Diamond.
The Associated Students of Laney College (ASLC) and the President’s Office will host a pre-game tailgate at 1:30 p.m. at the Fieldhouse, featuring complimentary hot dogs (beef and vegan options) and drinks for students and employees. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
The event encourages students and staff to wear Laney gear and show their Eagle pride as we pack the stands in support of our student-athletes.
This gathering reflects Laney College’s continued commitment to student engagement, school spirit, and campus community building through athletics.
Laney College’s Student Employment Services Center, in partnership with Oakland Rotary and Eagle’s Rotaract, will host an Internship Fair & Meet- Greet on Thursday, March 4, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Laney Quad.
The community hiring event will connect students with employers offering internship opportunities while providing career insights from industry professionals. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about joining Eagle’s Rotaract to build leadership skills and engage in community service.
The event supports Laney’s commitment to career readiness, workforce development, and meaningful community partnerships.
Laney College will host its Annual High School Counselors and Community Partners Breakfast on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Building D.
The event will provide high school counselors and community partners with updates on Laney College programs and student support services, including CCCApply, Financial Aid, Learning Communities, Counseling, and networking opportunities.
This annual gathering strengthens partnerships, enhances communication, and supports a seamless transition for students from high school to college.
